Giro 2014 Stage 20 - Micky Masters Mountain Mayhem

We were treated to an awesome spectacle as the race headed up the Zoncolan.

But as is often the case in a big (and probably slightly drunk) crowd, there's always a few dickheads who spoil it for everybody. Today, it was the turn of Francesco Bongiorno have his day spoiled by some knob-end. The aforementioned knob-end tried to give the Italian a friendly push up the fearsome hill, but only succeeded in forcing him to stop and so left the way open for Micky Rogers to win another stage.

We're getting a bit used to seeing the crowds on the big climbs getting close, but it's worth remembering that cycling is not the only sport where a drunken spectator can get in on the action.

Kings of the Zoncolan were Pretty in Pink.

Stage 21 is a mere formality unless you happen to be one of the few sprinters left in the race. The real action is going to come from the end of tour points, which will decide who takes the Fantasy a Giro crown.

  1. This year's Giro was very hard. Such a shame that many of the leaders got out of the race so early, I would have liked to see a bit more competition going on for the Maglia rosa (Quintana was just so strong). Nevertheless a great Giro. Thank you for the post :)
