Vuelta Stage 7 - De Marchi Time

The observant amongst you may have noticed that Alessandro De Marchi has spent much of the summer up the road in breaks.  He always got caught before the finish line before, but today his persistence paid off and he won stage 7.

The Froome-Dog made another one of his frequent trips to the asphalt.  He may have some new scars to impress the chicks with, but he also managed to steal a few seconds over the other GC boys at the end of the stage.

New boys to the Tour De Pance peloton, Pincko Pro Cycling earned the most points for the stage....

As the weekend approaches, we should be in for some quality racing to keep us fans glued to the TV.

Vuelta Stage 6 - Valverde Shows no Pity in the Heat

It seems you just can't keep that old rogue Alejandro Valverde down.  After doing plenty of donkey work on the lower slopes of the final climb for his supposed team-leader, the sly-old-dog  slipped away from a very select group to take the stage ahead of the Froome-Dog and Contador.

The Valverdoodle also moved himself into the overall lead.

Meanwhile, in 120th spot was Peter-No-Points.

Mind you, he still did better than supposed climber Carlos Betancur, whose main goal for the Vuelta this year seems to be to hang around the back of the Peloton looking portly, (sorry Mungo).

So the Stage 6 scores stacked-up like this, with the Rouleurs looking the most impressive in the mountains.

Vuelta Stage 5 - Degenkolb's Drift Bothers Bouhanni

Another stage, another sprint showdown.  A slightly easier approach to the line today meant that Nacer Bouhanni was still around when the sprint started. The Frenchman was close to the win, but also too close to the barriers, which he somehow seemed to think was John Degenkolb's fault.  Nobody else seemed bothered though, and Degenkolb earned his second win in 2 days.

Meanwhile, at the back of the field, was Bile Beans selection regret, Peter Sagan.

In the scores for the day, Mungo and the Chanbots were top of the pile of people who were smart enough not to pick Peter Sagan.

The race hits some proper hills for Stage 6 tomorrow, we should be able to get an idea of who's hot and who's not of the GC contenders.
