They say the Tour can't be won on the first day in the mountains, but it can be lost. Well 'they' obviously don't know much about cycling, because in the space of about 5 km, Chris Froome has this year's race pretty much in the bag.
Sky used the "Sky Big Book Of Bike Racing" to perfect effect. They drilled it on the climbs and shelled-out pretty much everyone before the Frome-Dog decided it was time to pounce. No one could come close (except maybe his team-mate Richie Porte).
So if you have the double whammy of Froome and Porte, you did pretty nicely today. If you have anyone else you'll just have to hope you get some points from the scraps they leave behind. Or that the Sky duo have some kind of race-ending crash. Kings, (or Queens) of the day were the Evil Chanbots, who I must admit are looking dangerous. They still have to get past the Kloefekappers in the overall though.

Stage 9 is another tough one, but that downhill finish means we might not see the Froome Dog slip his leash again. There's a ton of Mountain points on offer, so I'm expecting some Frenchmen to be on the attack to try and get the Polka-dot Jersey. They might as well, as there's no chance of them getting yellow.
