Fantasy Tour Stage 13: Wind Blows Race Open

Were you expecting another one of those Zzzzzzprint Zzzzzzztages today? I know I was. And although the Stage was won by Cav from Sagan in a sprint, there was plenty of other stuff going on.

Today was all about the side-winds, which give rise to echelons.

If you're at near the front of the echelon, things are peachy. If you're not, you're fucked. And so, all it took was a badly timed puncture and Alejandro Valverde was fucked. His GC rivals were off up the road and Valv Pitti kissed goodbye to his second place overall by the best part of ten minutes. Good.

But the fun wasn't over there. As the race headed towards the finish, Saxo-Tinkoff decided that it was their turn to give Sky a kicking. They drilled it off the front and took a select group with them. A group that didn't include the Froome-Dog, who lost a minute or so to Conatdor and Mollema.

All the fun and games were good news for WACA today. Pretty good for the Chanbots too.

Tomorrow is Bastille day, so you can be pretty sure a Frenchman won't win. Lumps aplenty but no big mountains. It should be one for a break, but who knows. Maybe teams will put Sky under pressure again? Probably Sagan again though.
