Today wasn't Bastille day, but I was right when I said a Frenchman wouldn't win. In fact, in recent years an even rarer sight than a Frenchman winning a stage has been a Italian winning a stage. So Matteo Trentin earned himself a big gelato for his win today.
He was part of a fourteen man move that went away on early in the stage and slogged it out for the win. Among them was My boy Andrew Talansky, who finished in third, but also move himself up nicely on GC. In scoretown, that bastard Vestan Pance was mayor for the day. There seems to be no shifting the Evil Dr Chan from ontop of the overall though.

Tomorrow really is Bastille Day. I still say a Frenchie won't win. If all the big names are still together at foot of the Ventoux, then I think we might see something of the Sky team of old. They may be weakened, but they do know how to knock out the Watts up a gradient. After the drama of the last week, I think the Froome Dog will be out to show everyone who's top dog.
