FTDF 2016 Stage 9 - Tenacious Tommy D

I quite like that Tom Dumoulin. Not to be confused with that other Tommy D, Tom Danielson, who's excuses for doping positives don't seem to wash with his colleagues.

The Dutch Tommy D can certainly time trial and he's recently become something of a GC dark-horse since nearly winning the Vuelta. At the Tour this year though, he lost too much time in the first week to challenge, so earned himself a nice stage win as consolation.

Meanwhile, back down the road, Froome and the rest of them slogged up a mountain in the rain.

Nothing very much changed in the overall. Although come to think of it, Alberto Contador did abandon the race.

Winning at getting the most points, yet again, is Drew.

So it's no surprise to see Mr. Drew clinging on to his lead coming out of the rest day. I don't know about you, but I took the liberty of checking out the 'Dudes' stats and although some of them are doing very nicely, there's plenty of dead-wood on the team, which will hopefully drag him down before Paris.

After some R&R today, the boys will be starting out again with Stage 10. There's going to be no dicking about, with a tough climb right off the start-line. If anyone's got bad legs after the rest day, they are going to have a hard time getting over the hill. Anyone who's left in the front group should be up for a sprint from the bunch or a small group.

  1. Yeah, Coppel and Fugslang were poor choices. I blame Dave.
