FTDF 2016 Stage 8 - Fearless Froome Flies

Chris Froome eh? He's the most successful Tour De France rider of recent years, but some find him a hard man to like. The way he and Sky control the race has been criticized for lacking panache and of course there is all that stem-staring he does. But today, he has shown many of his critics another side of himself. We all knew he could climb and time trial like the best of them. Now we know he can also descend like Peter Sagan.

And punch someone in the face like Bernard Hinault.

His spectator smack-down may have cost him 200 Swiss Francs, but I think we can all agree that it was money well spent. And his little trip off the front over the top of the climb earned him the Stage and enough seconds to take the Yellow Jersey.

Warwick must be full of glee with today's events, for he is King O' the League.

Drew's still winning then......I've pretty much run out of things to say about the situation.

Another tough day in them thar hills tomorrow. If Chris Froome wants to endear himself more to those retro-grouch cycling fans, he should smoke a cigarette at the start and then raid a bar for some refreshing booze on the way round.
