FTDF 2016 Stage 12 - Froome Dog Walks It

A lot has happened in France today. So before we start, let's take a moment to congratulate Thomas De Gendt, who took a well deserved win, which on most days would rightly be celebrated.

That wasn't the biggest news on the Tour today however. The stage had been shortened due to the windy top at Mt. Ventoux. This meant that all the people who would have been on the last 6km of the climb were crammed onto the lower sections, which were not blessed with an over abundance of barriers. Add into this heady mix the fact that there was a rare Pokemon spotted in the middle of the climb and you have a recipe for crowd trouble. Too many people and not enough road for the Moto caused a crash among the GC leaders.

And out of the carnage emerged a bikeless Chris Froome running up the climb.

For a while the GC results looked like this.

But in the end they sorted it all out, with things pretty much how they were before all the fuss. Emerging on top from the chaos of the day were the Bile Beans.
You guessed it, Drew still leads the overall, the Bile Beans are snapping at his heels though.

Tomorrow it's the first time trial. I would expect good time trialists to do well on this stage.

Finally, at the risk of sounding serious, let's spare a thought for the victims of today's attack in Nice. The Tour De France is just a bit of fun which isn't really that important at the end of the day.

  1. I almost picked Navarro, but I can never remember which one's which between him and Moreno - and one of them is crap.
