The battle for the top ten (except the top one, Nibali could have stopped for ice-cream on the way round and still won the race) was still all to play for. Doing nicely was Jean-Christophe PĂ©raud, who did enough to finish in second. And not doing so nicely was my boy Valverde, who was looking tired in the final week and couldn't find the legs to round-out the podium.
A poor ride from Valverde was offset by a good ride from Tom Dumoulin, whose second place helped earn the Bile Beans the mostest points for the stage.
