TDF 2014 Stage 16 - Rogers Ride Vexes Voeckler

There was more good news for Billionaire Businessman and Bond-Villain wannabe, Oleg Tinkoff today.  After the pain of Contador's exit from the race, his boy Majka took over the lead in the Mountains Classification from J-Rod.

And his man Mick Rogers took the stage.  I was particularly pleased to see that Rogers denied Gurning-Gallic-Gobshite, Tommy Voeckler the win.

On a day where the stage was fought-out between some of the lower-profile riders in the race, it was only fitting that the best scores for the day came from teams who we haven't seen much of at the top of the leader-board yet.  Well, except for Doom of Froome, who you may remember were off to a good start after Stage 1.  And then it all went wrong.

The Olliepops must be feeling pretty good about their chances of taking the lead all the way to Paris now.  The Bile Beans may have just sneaked into second place, but I don't think they've got enough manpower left still in the race to move up any further.

In the KOM competition, Mungo have overtaken the Rouleurs to become our new King of the King of the Mountains.  Meanwhile, the 'Late no hopers' are really living up the their name at the bottom of the table.

Stage 17 is a toughie, but also a shorty.  Let's face it, no one is going to stop Nibali, but the race for the remaining podium spots is getting pretty interesting and with less than 125km of racing, the hammer will be down as soon as the flag drops.

  1. Gurning-Gallic-Gobshite, Tommy Voeckler.
Agree.. Can I add wanker? It was good to see him protesting that the chasing group sell him down the mountain to Louchon.
