TDF 2014 Stage 10 - Nibali Crushes, Contador Crashes

Stage 10 was another tough day for the peloton.  And it was a tough day for us Velogames managers, as chances are if you didn't already feel the pain of losing the Froome-Dog, then you felt the pain of losing Contador.  He went down hard on a wet descent and broke his leg, not that it stopped him trying to ride another 20km after the crash.

There are conflicting reports of how it happened, some say he was reaching in his pocket for a snack and hit a pot-hole.  Others say he was riding like a dick.  Others say he was trying to impress some girls with some stunts like Peter Sagan.  Luckily my favorite Cycling News commenter ellenbrook2001 has assessed the situation and reached a logical and clear conclusion.

With Bertie and Froomey out of the picture, there doesn't seem to be anyone around who can stop Nibali .  He won another stage and re-took the Yellow Jersey.  At the moment it looks like the only thing that will stop him are an unpleasant crash or a failed drug-test.

In the scores for the day, it was Tour-de-Pance-Tosspot, Vestan Pance in the lead.

And if you're doing the KOM thing, here's how that league looks.  I don't know about you, but I think I might transfer Contador out of my team before the next mountain stage.

After today's rest day, the peloton should have it relatively easy on Stage 11 - if it doesn't rain that is.  No big climbs, but the hills towards the end should keep the big sprinters from contesting the win.
