There was an early break of three, (including Charlie Wegelius, who's mum lives in Westow I'm told) but they were caught with 17km to go and then it was time for the sprinters. It was Tyler Farrar who won the stage.
He's also wearing the red points jersey. And he's got a shed load of Velogames points. No one in the Tour De Pance league picked him though and for that we're all kicking ourselves. I mean, only an idiot wouldn't have picked Evans and Vino for GC, but I always have trouble selecting a sprinter.
The big question is, is Farrar going to be as good at the TDF? He's doing alright at the Giro, but he's not up against the best sprinters really. Hushovd is recovering from a broken collarbone, Benatti is injured too and Friere has allergy troubles at this time of year. Not to mention Boonen and Cav who are off having fun at the Tour of California. I'm not sure they're having as much fun as Andy Schleck though.
So what's up with the scores? Well, they're a bit slow as usual, but results for stages 9 and 10 have now appeared and it's still Bile Beans on top.
And here's the breakdown for the stages.
So what's in store for tomorrow? Well the talk is of a route suited to a classics hardman and maybe not one for a pure sprinter like young Farrar. Even Vino has been talking about the stage as one where he might try and get some time on his rivals, so it should be a good one.
Hmmm I wonder what Andy Schleck is looking at? Maybe the writing on that girl's top...that must be it!
ReplyDeleteNo, they're both looking at her breasts from what I can tell.
ReplyDeleteAha what a day in the Giro, my man Arroyo is 2nd in the GC now, whoop whoop!
ReplyDeleteDoh! I nearly picked Arroyo. Bugger! At least Pozzovivo and Martin made the break.....I think.
ReplyDeleteGah! just as i was making my ascent!
