FTDF 2015 Stage 19 - Nibali Nabs a Stage

It was all going on at the Tour today. A tough day in the Alps saw an end to Geraint Thomas' impressive run of form.

And with the normally trusty Welshman gone, Froome was short of team-mates as the stage went on. A quick mechanical problem was all the chance Nibali needed to go up the road, mop up breakaway survivor Pierre Rolland and go on to take the stage. That should keep his mailbox free of abusive notes from Vino for a couple of days.

Quintana also put Froome under pressure and managed to claw back 30 seconds on the yellow jersey.

Allegations and speculation continue to Dog Froome. But as he seems to be fading a little in the final week, maybe he is human after all. I did read that his secret may be a special Ketone Drink. Well in the interests of research, I downed this before my commute the other day:

All I can tell you is, it did not enhance my performance. Stage honours go to Team Chanbot, who are overdue some success.

Den is on top for now, but those Kloefekappers and Poor De Yorkshire are not far behind as we enter the last few days of the race. It could all come down to the end-of-Tour points.

It's the final Alpine stage tomorrow and the last chance for anyone to dislodge Froome from the lead. It's a big ask though and we're more likely to see them fighting over the final podium spots and the Mountains Jersey. Anyway, it's up Alpe d'Huez, which is always fun, unless you're Chris Froome of cousre, in which case you are likely to finish the stage covered in someone else's saliva.
