FTDF Stage 10 - Tommy V’s Knees Please Frenchies

Rumor has it, Thomas Voeckler is called “Hollywood” by his colleagues in the bunch, as he’s such a good actor and loves to pull faces for the cameras.

Coming into the Tour, all the talk was of his knees(or genou as they like to say in France). Well I guess he was doing some of that acting, as it looks like they’re fine to me. He just won a tough stage in the mountains out of the remains of a big break, and now leads the mountains classification – he’s still a bus-ride away from the race lead though.

In the yellow jersey group, there was a bit of a dig from Nibali on the descent, but team Sky looked in control, and only the Bile Beans duo of Van Den Broeck and Rolland were able to slip away before the finish to gain a few seconds.

So Bradley Wiggins still has the yellow jersey, and Chris Froome still sits in third place.

The British success at the Tour must have been noticed back in the UK, as listening to the radio on my way to work this morning (Radio 6 through the internet), I heard a request for a “shout-out” for the “Froome-Dog”. Although the DJs did seem a bit confused as to who or what the Froome-Dog was.

I will be able to find out myself how much the UK has been taken over by Tour Fever soon. As tomorrow, the Pance Family are leaving on a jet-plane to visit the old country. I’ll be in York from the 13th-16th and Norwich 19th-23rd, to sign autographs, sell Bile Beans merchandise and remind myself what rain looks like. Drop me a line or hit me up on Facebook if you want to hang out. While I’m gone I’ll do my best to keep up with the Blog. There may however be a slight drop in quality while I’m travelling. Not that it will be easy to spot, as my blog isn’t very good.

Anyhooze, over to the league, and who should be on top, but the Flamin’ Nadgers? They only netted 117 points today, which is a lot worse than To Infinity and Beyond, who earned an impressive 419. It’s still a better score than the Smugblokes managed though, and today’s score of 72 isn’t going to help them get out of that lantern rouge position.

There’s more mountains on the menu for tomorrow, with some proper hard Alps and a mountain-top finish. That should separate the wheat from the chaff, men from boys, cats from kittens, Froome Dogs from Frome Dogs..........
