Fantasy Giro Stage 7: Hansen is MmmTop

Hats off to Adam Hansen for his stage win today.  He's one of those workhorses of the peloton. They work every bit as hard as the big stars, but without the results, or the money.  Every now and again though, such a rider has his chance and today Hansen seized his.  He was in the early break, and as those around him faded, he plodded-on to take a very well-derseved win.

As is my way, I must point out that Hansen is as far as I know, no relation to mop-haired former teen sensations Hanson.

Although mop-haired former teen sensations Hanson are related to diminutive art-popster Beck Hansen, (I think he's their cousin).

Hansen slipped away, but a lot of other riders were slipping over on some wet and twisty roads.  Bradley Wiggins was one of the men down, he was up soon enough, but had lost contact with the favorite's group.  He ended up crossing the line about a minute down, in a Giro that doesn't seem to be going his way.

It wasn't a great day for the Bile Beans, not a single rider in the top 10. At least my budget GC pick, Beñat Intxausti has sneaked into the race lead, after riding consistently all week.

Doing best with the scores today were Mungo, who've been off to a quiet start so far.  Not so many points for the Smugblokes.

It's the big time trial tomorrow.  It's a long 'un at 54.8km, and if Wiggins doesn't win it, he might as well go home.  Even if Sir Bradders does win, he won't be able to do much more than make up his losses so far.  He might take the Pink Jersey, but he'll likely get hammered as soon as the race hits the hills again.
