Fantasy Giro Stage 1: Cav slips into Pink

It looked like a nice day at the Giro today.  Certainly better than here in Atlanta, where it looks set to piss it down all weekend.

Whatever happened to global warming eh?  Still, all this rain means I had time to make some beer.

And finish off the artwork on my full-suspension bike.

Oh, and Mark Cavendish won Stage 1 of the Giro today.  As if you couldn't have guessed.  The lead-out men at his new team may have been a bit hit and miss this season, but he always seems to find himself in the right place when it counts.  He dodged the last minute crashes and sailed on through to take the win.

(Revised) Scores are in, and Cofeedis are off to a strong start.  But as we all know, it's a marathon, not a sprint.  And even though Mr. Fee looks to have a well balanced squad, I'll eat my chapeau if he has it all his own way to the finish in Brescia.

Tomorrow is team time trial time.  Word on the street is that the streets of Ischia are "technical", but at only 17.4km long, it shouldn't be possible to fuck it up too much.  Cav's no stranger to doing a good TTT at the Giro and his 20 second time bonus from the win today should be enough to hold onto the lead for another day.  Then again, Sky, GreenEdge, Astana, BMC, Garmin and maybe Movistar will all be looking to do all they can to do a fast one tomorrow.
