Fantasy Giro 2013: All hail Niblo and Mungo

That's the Giro done then. Cav won the last stage like I said he would.

And Nibali won the race.  That didn't stop that old rouge Vino from sticking his face on the podium and taking some of the credit.

So let's see how we all did now that all the points are in.

Congratulations to Mungo, they have pulled-off the biggest win of their fantasy cycling career to date.  He looks happy.

There's not much I can say about the performance of the Bile Beans, apart from we didn't do very well.  I'm saving myself for the Tour, which isn't far away now.  I expect to see all of you there, not to mention the usual bunch of Fantasy Cycling chancers who usually show up in July.  Maybe we'll have another race before then, but that's up to George.

Fantasy Giro Stage 20: Nibali Not a Nobody

Hello, are you ready to Tour de Pance?  Well bad luck, I'm on vacation and this post is going to be even more half-arsed than usual.  So hello from the beach.

Just case you hadn't noticed, Vincenzo Nibali is totally going to win the Giro.  He won today, just to make sure you got the message.

But who will win the Fantasy Giro?  We don't know yet, but it. Will probably all come down to the end of tour points.  Here's how we stand after yesterday's non-stage.

Tomorrow I'm expecting Cav to win the stage and Nibali to win the Giro.  I am not expecting the Bile Beans to win the Fantasy Giro.

Fantasy Giro Stage 19: Nothing to See Here

No racing at the Giro today, as the stage was cancelled due to yet more bad weather.  So the stage went from this epic.

To this tough day out.

To an extra rest day for the peloton. 

One man who will be getting plenty of rest days is Danilo Di Luca, in news that surprised exactly one person, he's tested positive for EPO.  He's a long history of being a wrong 'un, but I must admit, he didn't fail the Pance Test when I looked the other day, (that reminds me, I need to see if his wife is hot).

The internet moves fast though, and as of today, he's failed the Pance Test and I can officially declare him a doper.

 

There should be some Velogames points for the overall awarded today, but they aren't in yet.

 

Stage 20 may or may not happen tomorrow.  If it does happen I don't think they'll be doing all this stuff.

 

Fantasy Giro Stage 18: Victory for Vincenzo

I think we’ve all realized by now that Vincenzo Nibali is the strongest man at the Giro this year.  Just in case we were in any doubt, he went and won the time trial today.

While Cadel Evans was a bit crappy and is now only ten seconds off losing his second place on GC to The Uranator.

As you may have noticed they were mostly not riding those fancy time trial bikes.  They were on those fancy road bikes, as the stage 18 time trial had a bit of an uphill profile.

Stage 19 also has a mountainous profile, or it did at any rate.

 

But with all the rain and snow and such they’ve had to change it up a bit, missing out the Gavia and Stelvio.  I’m sure the likes of Cav are pleased about it, but it still looks a bit challenging to me.
