Giro 2017 Stage 1 - Pöstlberger First Past the Pöst

All the sprinters at the Giro this year were licking their lips at the prospect of wining stage 1 and taking the Pink Jersey. It seemed so straightforward, but young upstart Lucas Pöstlberger had to go and spoil it all for them, when he accidentally found himself off he front in the finals Km of the stage.

Not bad start for a lad in his first Grand Tour. He got the first action with the Podium Girls too.

Also off to a good start, but in far from his first Grand Tour...... it's Vestan Pance.

It wasn't all good news for me however. I'm too cheap to shell out for Quintanna or Nibali, so I took the budget option of Steven Kruijswijk, who lost a bit of time - still it's early days. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? A sprint probably.
