Terpsta Makes Them Eat His Dust At Roubaix

At the risk of getting sued by Specialized, it is my duty to tell you that it was Paris-Roubaix yesterday.  And what a race it was!  With thrills and spill aplenty.  I even managed to watch a bit of the race on TV, although I missed the last 50km when Mrs. Pance made us go to shopping.

A quick look at the history books will tell you that Paris-Roubaix is a race for Boonen or Cancellara, but in the end it was Boonen's team-mate Niki Terpstra who earned himself the biggest win of his career.  Rock on!

As the race headed across the roads of Northern France, the cobbles took their toll on legs and bikes, till a select group of favourites was left.  With 3 OPQS riders in an 11-man group Boonen and Stybar could sit-in when Terpstra made his move with 6km to go.  And so after Terpstra soloed across the line at the Velodrome, it was left to Degenkolb and Cancellara to take the remaining podium spots in the sprint.

A look at the scores for the day shows that even though I didn't pick the winner, the Bile Beans still contained enough quality riders that I earned the most points.  Only just though, the Rolueurs and Kloefekappers were not far behind.

A look at the overall so far sees Mungo still in the lead, although not by quite as much as before.

The next race on our fantasy calendar is De Brabantse Pijl on Wednesday and if you were to look at your team roster right now, you might see a lot of this.

So you should probably get thinking about using up some of those transfers.  As we head into the Ardennes classics, most of the guys who did well in the earlier races will be taking a well-earned rest and the remaining races will be fought-out by a different crop of riders.  If you know who, you might still be in with a chance of winning the league - unless you are the Smugblokes.
