Poor old J-Rod. He seemed about to finally get himself a Grand Tour win this week. He’d not put a foot wrong in the first two weeks of the Vuelta. He’d taken some tough stage wins to bag some bonus seconds, done a good time trial, and dealt with everything Contador could throw at him in the mountains. It looked like all he had to do was stick to Bertie’s wheel for a few more days, and he’d have the whole race sewn-up......Well, I guess Contador doesn’t give up so easily. He must have had an extra large steak on the rest day. As today he was off up the road, and no one could catch him, (although Valverde did get pretty close).
A pretty impressive ride I must say, and probably the kind of thing that would have made the Tour De France a bit more exciting to watch. Let's just hope we don't have any adverse analytical findings.
The scores are in, Rouleurs are still out in front.
