Stage 16 was another toughie in the mountains, and the final climb up Cuitu Nigru was apparently hard enough to make you puke.
Dario Cataldo sneaked away with Thomas De Ghent earlier in the stage and the Italian managed to hold off the Dutchman, and hold onto his lunch, to take the win.
Behind the breakaway duo, it was pretty much the same old story, with Contador and Rodriguez again showing that they are the strongest in the race. The Froome-Dog was had another bad day, and pretty much said goodbye to any hope of a podium spot, but it looks like fourth place is fairly safe. And Valverde just about stayed in the game, thanks to some strong riding by young Bile Bean Quintana.
Rouleurs maintain their lead then, with Mungo not too far behind. They both lost Cameron Meyer the other day, but although the Bile Beans are still at full strength, it looks like a big gap in points to the top and there’s only five days of racing left.

Stage 17 is rumored to favor a breakaway, I’ll have to hope that some of my boys are in it.
