Paris - Roubaix: Degenkolb King of the Cobbles

De Brabantse Pijl is just around the corner, but if I'm quick, we can get the Paris-Roubaix report taken care of. Without Cancellara and Boonen, it was left to a new crop of riders to liven up the race and they didn't disappoint. Alexander Kristoff was finally kicked off the top step of the podium by the Giant-Alpecin's other superstar-sprinter, John Degenkolb, who rode hard and smart to take his second classics win of the season.

Peter Sagan failed to make an impression once again. He seemed to have some mechanical trouble, but I don't think Oleg Tinkov will be in any mood to hear his excuses. If he doesn't get a win for his new team soon, I think Sagan might come down with a case of Polonium poisoning. He already seems to be suffering from some intestinal distress.

Bradley Wiggins had a bit of a go in his last race with Team Sky, but it wasn't enough to secure a fairytale ending. Oh well Bradley, there's always the Tour de Yorkshire.

And last but not least, lets give a shout-out to Pippo Pozzato, who didn't do shit at Roubaix, but true to form, did show up doing a delusional interview in CyclingNews last week.

Apart from Degenkolb, the other King of the Cobbles were the Kloefekappers FC.

 It's probably too late to remind you, but you're going to have to use up some of your transfers if you want to score any points in the upcoming races. As we head into the Ardennes you'll need less Rouleurs and more Puncheurs. I've made a few changes to the Bile Beans, but I've got some work to do if I want to get ahead of the Enrico 666 and the Kloefekappers.

Tour of Flanders and Scheldeprijs - Kristoff Krushes all Kompetition

Another late race report, and I'm going to bundle two together to save a bit of time. There's only been one man winning races in Belgium recently - unless you count Wiggo's ITT win at De Panne -  and that's Alexander Kristoff. First, he won all three road stages at De Panne. Then he took the Tour of Flanders, and to cap it all off, he won Scheldeprijs yesterday. Here's a picture of him winning some race or other recently.

 With his incredible form of late, you'd have to be some kind of moron not to have Kristoff in your team by now, (sorry WACA). The Norwegian is sure to be one of the favourites at Paris-Roubaix on Sunday. But there's plenty of others in with a shout. Bradley Wiggins has made no secret of the fact he's out to do well in what will be his final race for the Team Sky. And I wouldn't be surprised if an interview with a delusional Pippo Pozzato shows up on CyclingNews, about how he's going to be up there in the finale too. It looks like the weather forecast is a bit short on rain for the weekend, but this puddle was spotted on the course yesterday, so there could still be some muddy fun.

We're now over half-way through the Fantasy Classics season and the Bile Beans have been underperforming in the last few races, leaving the way open for Enrico 666 to surge ahead in the overall. I'll have to hope for a change in fortunes when we head into the Ardennes Classics.
